Birds on the Block
Grades 3 - 5, 6 - 8
Birds on the Block brings citizen science and urban ecology into NYC classrooms and schoolyards. Over six sessions, students develop real scientific skills: observation, data collection, and analysis while discovering the remarkable diversity of birdlife living alongside them in the city.
Birds by Design
Grades 3 - 5
Hands-on bird biology brings real bioartifacts into the classroom. Through interactive investigation and design challenges, students develop scientific skills in observation, analysis, and design while exploring how birds’ adaptations help them survive in different habitats.
Next Generation Science Standards
Our afterschool programs are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), a set of K–12 science content standards that outline what students should know and be able to do at key points in their academic journey. Developed by states to strengthen science education, the NGSS are research-based and reflect the most current understanding of how students learn science best.
