Birding Expeditions

See Long Island’s birdlife from a new perspective! During the summertime, join us aboard Stirling Harbor Foundation vessels in Oyster Bay to spot ospreys, herons, and other coastal birds while learning from our naturalists. You’ll even have the chance to take part in citizen science by recording bird sightings that support real research.

In the cooler months, head to Greenport for our popular Duck Tours, where you’ll discover the many species of waterfowl that migrate through and spend the winter on the North Fork.

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just starting out, our programs make it easy to enjoy nature, learn something new, and connect with the birds that call Long Island home.

Chicane is the vessel that started it all! Our first birding expeditions took place aboard Chicane in the summer of 2023.

This year, her expeditions will look a little different. Chicane is scheduled to represent the CI Bird Sanctuary and the Stirling Harbor Foundation at the Mystic Seaport Wooden Boat Show in June. We hope to see you there!
